Learning Targets
GUIDE TO GRADE-LEVEL CONTENT EXPECTATIONS
With the support of Searle Funds at Chicago Community Trust, Chicago Public Schools has developed a guide to grade-level content expectations for parents, students, and teachers. The Learning Targets outline the fundamental objectives across all grade levels, and in the core content areas: Reading/Language Arts, Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science. The Office of Teaching and Learning welcomes you to view these resources online or download them to use with your students at school or at home. This project represents the culmination of an effort to secure anchor standards that will connect the current Illinois Learning Standards, to the newly adopted Common Core State Standards. Organized in grade bands: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, and enhanced with a variety of interactive resources, Learning Targets offer grade-appropriate opportunities for extended learning. Independent of curriculum and assessments, we will continue to improve this project to meet the needs of all Chicago Public Schools students, their parents, and teachers.
